Whether you’re reading this blog for the first time or you've stopped by before, welcome! I’m glad you’re here, and invite you to poke around and explore all you want.
I started this blog as a way of sharing stories and things I found regarding my ancestors—pictures, obituaries, tombstones, records, heirlooms, and more. Genealogy is like a giant puzzle--we're always searching, finding, recording, analyzing, and piecing evidence together. While it's never done, the picture that emerges as the pieces fit together is fascinating!
Over the years, I’ve completed the National Genealogical Society Home Study Course and the ProGen Study Group program, attended national conferences and institutes, and developed my skills in the field. All of this led to the launch of my business, Buckeye Family Trees, in 2012. I specialize in helping people find their Ohio ancestors and preserve their family history research in writing. I invite you to visit my website and have a look around there, too. I'm a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and currently serve as President of the Great Lakes Chapter.
I research in Central Ohio and have ancestral roots in several Ohio counties. My family branches came from Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Germany. My husband’s families migrated from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, England, Northern Ireland, and Wales. All that makes for an interesting range of subjects! To see the names and places I’m researching, click on the “Ancestors” tab above.
With A Sense of Family, I also try to share some of the resources, techniques, tips, and strategies I’ve gathered along the way. Thanks for visiting!
